Lynx pardinus

As most people know by now the lynx is my favourite feline, especially our Iberian Lynx, Lynx Pardinus with its own unique features, that makes him one of the most beautiful and enchanting animals ever to have walked this Earth.

Because of his unique characteristics along with the destruction of his habitat and consequently his primary food suply- the wild rabbit - the Lynx pardinus is the most threatened feline in the world. Their population is estimated to be around 200 in all of Iberia(Portugal and Spain).
It's very urgent to preserve their habitats and enhance the wild rabbit population.
Today good news arrived from E.U. - € 4 million to help this endangered animal along with three other species of birds that are native to Portugal.

Our Liga para a Protecção da Natureza (LPN) - League for Nature Preservation is doing a wonderful job with a programme of awareness. Here is the link in case you are interested, and it has an English version: http://www.lpn.pt/#20-PT

These were the first cubs to have ever been born in captivity. Spain/Donaña Park.

Lju is in our plans

Our red female Lju has been living with my sister for several months now. We decided that we will try at least one litter with her before she gets neutered. She is a very sweet lady, but she didn't developed the way that we wanted. Her ears could be better placed and she isn't strongly built like her mother Aqua or her father Felix.

Maybe in her next heat we will take her to meet her prince charming and after the babies move to their new homes, she will be neutered.

She is living with Gaspar, our red male who is already neutered and although he is a male and moreover neutered, Lju weighs more than Gaspar does. We have him neutered because he weighted so little. I guess it's in his genes to be so thin...

Still waiting

Sorry for this long waiting, since the new school year has begun I seem to have no time for the computer. I spend all day at school and the rest of the time preparing classes and attending meetings at school.

The website hasn't been updated because I didn't have the time to take new pictures of the cats and the news here haven't been much. Still waiting for Kunjara and Xazul to have their love affair. She doesn't seem that interested and we will leave her there for a few more weeks waiting for a successfull mating.

Over here Ghost isn't that eager into getting in heat as well. Just crazy playing for her and Felix. They both seem enjoying running and chasing each other, but that's that.
